Neuhauser / Birke: Migration and Work – Theoretical Perspectives under the Impression of Multiple Crises

In many countries, including Germany and Austria, the pandemic has both exposed and generated conflicts around migrant labor. Social.History Online has published several texts on struggles of migrant workers since March 2020, including analysis of conflicts over mass infections or labor unrest in agriculture or the meat industry. Johanna Neuhauser and Peter Birke discuss theoretical perspectives with which this cycle of conflicts can be read. For a better understanding of the perspectives of anti-racist and workplace struggles, they suggest to connect critical migration and labor research.
