Gene Ray is a critic and theorist living in Berlin. His essays about issues at the intersections of art and radical politics have appeared in Third Text, Left Curve, and Analyse & Kritik. His most recent book is Terror and the Sublime in Art and Critical Theory (Palgrave Macmillan, 2005). The editor of Joseph Beuys: Mapping the Legacy (DAP, 2001) and a contributor to Territories: Islands, Camps and Other States of Utopia (KW, 2003), he has taught critical art theory at New College of Florida and the University of Hawai’i at Manoa.
